Youth Baseball Teams Prepare For State Tournaments

Preparations are already underway for three Manchester Youth Baseball LeagueAll Star teams as they prepare for their respective TYBA State Tournaments coming up later this month.  All 3 teams received their first round game time and opponent. The All Star team coaches were nominated and selected by the other coaches in the league and approved by the MYBL board.
For the 11&12 years olds, they will begin play in the TYBA Open State on Friday, July 11th at 6:30 PM as they take on the Young Guns of Shelbyville at Barfield Crescent Park in Murfreesboro.  The 11&12 yearAll Stars are managed by Eric Burch, who led the Coffee County Bank team to a regular season league title.  Burch is assisted by Ricky Bratcher, Robert Hullett and Jimmy Hollandsworth. The 11&12 year olds were victorious over the Tullahoma Little LeagueAll Star team recently at Tullahoma and will host Tullahoma on Tuesday night at the American League Field in a rematch scrimmage. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
The 9&10 year oldAll Stars defeated Cannon County on Monday night in a scrimmage by a final score of 18 to 6. The 9&10 year old team manager is Jason Crosslin and he is assisted by Scott Sherrill, Greg Perry and Duane Meadows.  The coaching staff spent the majority of Monday’s scrimmage working on defensive alignments and fundamentals while getting their catchers and pitchers some valuable innings.  The state tournament for the 9&10’s will also begin on July 11th in a 5 PM game at Barfield Crescent.
The 7&8 year old Coach Pitch team will not begin state tournament play until July 18th.  Manager Shawn Trail , along with assistants Eric West, Keith Wimberly and Alex Spinner have not scrimmaged yet as they continue to refine the fundamentals of their squad. The first game for the Coach Pitch All Stars will be July 18th at 6:00 PM as they will take on the Middle Tennessee Renegades. That game will also be held at Barfield Crescent Park in Murfreesboro.
