On Tuesday, The Manchester Youth Baseball League continued their post season tournament with 3 doubleheaders at Fred Deadman Park. In 6U action, Lions Club got a run in the top of the first inning and never trailed as they defeated Manchester Tire 26 to 17. Lions Club was led by Andie Nicoll who was 4 for 4 with 3 runs scored. Manchester Tire was led by Gavin Smith who had 2 doubles. In the other 6U game, Sonic scored 7 runs in the 3rd inning to break open a close game and defeat Henley Storage 25 to 16. Randall Harrison and Lee Ashford were each 4 for 4 for Sonic while Journey Cummings was 4 for 4 with 4 runs scored for Henley Storage.
In 10U action, Cole Fowler of Hullett’s was called out for missing 3rd base on an apparent game tying, inside the park home run as 1st National Bank squeaked out the 6 to 5 win. Knox Wimberley was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored in the winning effort for 1st National Bank while Jonathan Nelson was 2 for 2 for Hullett’s. John Roberts Toyota held Rose Hill to a single hit as they blanked them 13 to 0. John McKelvey had an inside the park home run for John Roberts while Darryn Strickland had the lone hit for Rose Hill. All Creatures held off a late rally from American City Bank to claim a 9 to 5 upset win. Remington Banks was 2 for 2 for All Creatures with an inside the park home run. Tevin Taylor had a single and reached on an error for American City Bank. And in the final game of the night, Mark Lemons Construction got a walk-off RBI single from Anthony Fidecaro to eclipse Jiffy Burger 4 to 3. Jacob Holder was 2 for 3 for Mark Lemons while Jiffy Burger was held hitless on the night.
The MYBL tournament will resume on Monday as the 8U and 10U teams return to action. The 12U and 6U teams will return to action on Tuesday while all age divisions will crown their champions on Friday, June 19th
