CHS senior pitcher J.P. Duncan fires a pitch during Saturday’s game with Stratford

J.P. Duncan and Wyatt Day combined for a complete game no-hitter on Saturday as the Red Raider baseball team won their first game of the season 10 to 2 over Stratford.  The win was the first career win for head coach Jon Spears and broke a 3 game losing streak for the Red Raiders.  Duncan, who got the start on the hill, gave up 2 unearned runs while striking out 6.  Wyatt Day entered the game in the 5th inning and threw 3 perfect innings of relief.  Offensively, the Red Raiders banged out 10 hits on the game.  Peyton Booth led the way with 3 for 4 with 3 RBI for Coffee County.  Duncan was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI while DeAndre Wakefield was 2 for 3 with an RBI and Noah Anderson was 2 for 2 on the day.  Duncan, Booth and Day were named the Gateway Tire and Service Center co-players of the game.  The Raiders will return to district play on Tuesday night as they play host to Lincoln County.  The varsity game will follow the JV contest and will begin at 6:00 PM at Powers Field.  The next Thunder Radio broadcast of Raider baseball will be on Wednesday night in Fayetteville as Coffee County visits Lincoln County.  First pitch will be at 6:00 PM with the pregame show beginning at 5:50 PM.
