Cross Country Comes to Coffee County Middle School

Cross CountryAfter receiving inquiries from several middle school parents, the Coffee County Middle School has agreed to add Cross Country to their sports offerings this fall. Students at CCMS who wish to participate in Cross Country will be coached by CHS Cross Country coaches Robert Harper and Nathan Wanuch. The team will train alongside the high school team but compete against other middle school teams at the same meets attended by the high school. CCMS athletic director Kyle Harris was pleased to add the sport which will directly benefit the CCMS Track team in the spring along with the high teams in future years. “We strive to prepare our students for high school not only academically, but also athletically” said Harris. The CCMS runners will begin competing on Thursday, along the high school cross country team on Thursday in the Cookeville at the Cookeville XC Jamboree. This event is untimed and unscored. The Middle School races will be 2 miles while the High School races are 5K. The Middle School girls and boys will run at 4:30 and 5:00 PM respectively while the High School girls begin at 5:30 PM and the boys follow at 6:00.
