Columbia Sweeps Coffee County In Tuesday Night Basketball

The Coffee County Lady Raiders’ basketball team started slowly on Tuesday night, falling behind 14-3 in the 1st quarter before closing the gap to 14-10 after the 1st. Columbia held the lead throughout the 2nd quarter as they took a 27-21 advantage into the dressing room. In the 2nd half the Lady Lions controlled the play on their home floor picking up the District 8-AAA win, 56-44.
Coffee County Senior Tyger Fenton was named the Gateway Tire and Service Center player of the game. Cameron Davis led the Lady Raiders in scoring with 12.
Coffee County dropped to 12 and 14 on the season and 2 and 9 in district play.
The Coffee County boys were looking to pull off an upset of the Lions but those plans did not work out. Coffee County kept the game close in the first half, trailing by only 6 but the Raiders could not slow down Columbia in the second half, falling 63-40.
Addison Carter led Coffee County with 9 points and was named the player of the game.
Coffee County falls to 4-21 overall and 0-10 in district play.
Friday night the Raiders will host the Wildcats of Tullahoma. Airtime is set for 5:50pm with Dennis Weaver.
