Coffee Middle Football Drops Tullahoma, Retains Coffee Cup

Recovering an onside kick with 21 seconds left in the game lifted the Coffee County Middle School football team to a 24 to 16 Coffee Cup win over Tullahoma on Tuesday. Tullahoma scored their touchdowns in the final minute of each half in the pressure packed, rivalry game. After a scoreless 1st quarter, CCMS got on the board first as QB Blanton Brown darted into the end zone with 16 seconds left in the half. Taylor Hulvey bowled in for the PAT to make in 8 to 0. The Wildcats responded as they returned the kickoff for a TD sending the game into halftime tied at 8. After a back and forth 3rd quarter, Coffee CupHayden Skipper rambled in for the go-ahead TD with 21 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. Brown carried the ball in for the 2 point PAT to make it 16 to 8 entering the 4th quarter. Brown got his second TD on the night with 3:36 left in the game and Skippers PAT made it 24 to 8 with 3:36 to play. But the Cats were not deterred as they marched the ball down the field to score with 21 seconds remaining. The Raiders recovered the onside kick and were able to retain the Coffee Cup Trophy for another year. Coffee Middle will host Harris on Tuesday night at 6:30 at Carden-Jarrell Field
