Coffee County’s cross country team culminated its 1st season in 30 years with a good showing in the Region 4 meet as they placed 7th overall. The only 8AAA team that outran our boys was Columbia which finished 6th. Coffee County was hampered by the absence of their #4 runner, Caleb Buck, who had a health issue. Freshmen runners Neil Slone and Aaron Buck performed well as Slone finished in 21:11, which was a new personal best time, while Buck ran a 21:38 which was 30 seconds better than his previous best time. Coffee County’s top finishers were Andy Rosson for the boys as he ran a 18:04, Scott Randolph finished at 18:49, and Maxwell Nicoll came in at 19:01.
For the Lady Raiders, Makenzie Morgan finished at 24:16, Kayla McCormick ran a season’s best 27:44 and Claudia Bertuzzi finished in 28:30 cutting 1 minute off of her best time for the season. The Cross Country team is coached by David Muckle who resurrected a program that had been dormant since the 1980’s. Muckle had the following praise for his runners: “I am really proud of all of our runners for their hard work and consistent improvement all season”
