CHS Track Qualifies 2 More for TSSAA Spring Fling on Tuesday

Taylor Deberry and Kani Johnson punched their ticket to the TSSAA Spring Fling on Tuesday as they each qualified in their hurdle events at the TSSAA Section 2 sectional at Rhea County.  Deberry, running in the 100M hurdles finished in 3rd place in her heat with a time of 16.64 which qualified her for the state meet.  Johnson, competing in both the 110M high hurdles and the 300M hurdles finished in 3rd place in the 110 with a time of 15.32 and 4th in the 300M hurdles with a time of 40.66.  Both finishes were good enough to advance him to the state meet next week in Murfreesboro.  Also competing for the Raider thinclads was Cameron Davis in the discus.  Davis finished in 7th place and that did not qualify her for state.  Next week at the TSSAA Spring Fling state meet, Sarah Pearson will compete in the pentathlon on Monday(May 18) beginning at 9:30 AM.  Taylor Deberry will compete on Thursday(May 21) in the 100M hurdles in the 3:00 PM session.  Kani Johnson will compete in the 110M hurdles and the 300M hurdles on Friday in the afternoon session which is set to begin at 4:00 PM.  The state track meet is held at the MTSU Track and Field Complex in Murfreesboro.
