Facing a Siegel Stars team that has won 10 straight Region Titles coming into Thursday’s Region Tournament, the Lady Raider tennis team faced a monumental task. In the hottest temperatures they had faced this season, the Lady Raiders could not overcome a solid and talented Siegel team as they fell 4 to 1. Maddie Taylor was the lone Lady Raider to win her matchup as the two teams competed in set play. All five singles matches were decided in straight sets as Taylor swept both sets winning 6 to 1 and 6 to 3. Senior Karlee Reed fell 2-6 and 0-6, Alex Crossland dropped a 3-6/3-6 decision, Savannah Hodge fell 1-6/3-6 and Alli Shelton dropped a 3-6/0-6 decision. With the loss, Coffee County’s team tennis season comes to a close but the Lady Raiders do have a doubles team set to take part in the Region doubles tournament on Monday. The doubles team of Alex Crossland and Savannah Hodge will compete in the region doubles tournament on Monday at Old Fort Park. Doubles matches are set to get underway at 1:00 PM.
