CCMS 6th Grade Teams Begin Season with a Pair of Wins


The Coffee County Middle School 6th grade boys’ basketball team opened their regular season on Tuesday night with a 30 to 21 win over North Franklin. The Red Raiders, who trailed by 3 points at the half, used a 19 point second half to overcome a fast starting Gator squad. Conner Shemwell led the Raiders in scoring as he netted 17 points including 4 free throws and a 3 pointer. Joseph Duncan added 12 points, including 7 points in the 2nd half.

The Lady Raiders needed a 10 point 4th quarter to cap a 26 to 21 come from behind victory.  Kiya Ferrell got 6 of her game high 12 points in the final period.  The Lady Raider defense held North Franklin to 2 field goals in the second half and 3 points in the 4th quarter to nab the win.  Marley Perry added 6 points while Leigha Insell and Samantha Brown each finished with 4 points.

The 6th grade Raiders and Lady Raiders will host their first home game on Tuesday night as they welcome White County to CCMS. The girls’ game is set to begin at 6 PM.
