patelFuneral services for Mr. Thakorbhai Patel, age 70 of Manchester will be conducted Monday, September 28, 2015 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of service at Coffee County Funeral Chapel.
Thakorbhai was born February 2, 1945 in Nairobi, Kenya the son of the late Naranbhai Patel and Bai lakhiben Patel. Thakorbhai resided in Kenya until the age of 18 when he moved to England, then to Canada and in 1979 to the United States. He met his wife, Laxmiben Patel while in India and the two married and began their family. Upon moving to Manchester in 1979, he purchased the “8 Inn” motel, which he owned and operated until the late 1980’s and then sold. He then purchased Bill’s Liquor Store in Manchester, which the family still owns and operates today. Thakorbhai was a loving husband and father throughout his life and was remembered by his sons as being strict while they were growing up. When his first granddaughter was born two years ago, all of that strictness changed into sweetness for his sweet Addyson. He loved spending time with her and his family. He also had a passion for gardening which is represented at his home throughout his yard.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Dipan Patel who passed away August 8, 2013.
Survivors include his loving wife, Laxmiben Patel of Manchester; three sons, Yogesh “Yogi” Patel of Manchester; Bhaves “Bobby” Patel and wife, Lindsey Adcock Patel of Manchester and Nilesh Patel and wife, Smita Patel also of Manchester; special granddaughter, Addyson Patel of Manchester and three sisters and six brothers and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Memory of Thakorbhai Patel to the Manchester Police Department, Coffee County Sheriff’s Department or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
