JOHNNIE LULA WHALEY, age 71, of Estill Springs, Tenn., departed this life on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at NHC in Tullahoma, Tenn.

She was born on Christmas day, December 25, 1943, in Tullahoma, Tenn., to the late John Lula Bennett Demarest.

Mrs. Whaley was a member of the Capitol Hill Church of Christ. She loved roses and irises, most of all she loved her boston terrier, Tuff.

Mrs. Whaley is survived by her loving husband, Bob Whaley of Estill Springs, Tenn., daughter, Melissa Phillips and her husband, Greg of Walterhill Community in Murfreesboro, Tenn., son, John Whaley and his wife, Michelle of Estill Springs, Tenn., mother-in-law, Azalee Whaley of Estill Springs, Tenn., grandchildren; Rebecca (Jerry) Winton of Tullahoma, Tenn., Kirk Winton of Manchester, Tenn., Cadence Whaley of Nashville, Tenn., Chayton Whaley of Estill Springs, Tenn., 2 great-grandchildren; Tempy and Gideon Winton, brother, Tom (Caroyln) Demarest of Manchester, Tenn., 2 nieces; Kelly Demarest and Beverly Crowder of Nyrobi, Africa, and nephew, John Demarest of Smyrna, Tenn.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, from 12:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. at Grant Funeral Services.

Services will also be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. from the chapel of Grant Funeral Services with Bro. Robert Tipps and Bro. Johnny Ray flower 19Bradford, officiating.

Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens in Winchester, Tenn.

The family request friends and family to wear something purple, if not there will be purple ribbons available at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 201 West Lincoln Street, Tullahoma, Tenn.
