Mr. Webber is preceded in death by his parents, Chester Clay Webber and Harriet Webber and brother, Mike Webber.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Webber, a son, J.C. (Jack) Webber, two daughters, Mrs. Kathryn McCullough and Ms. Teresa Cashmore; numerous nieces and nephews.
A native of Rantoul, IL, he grew up there and graduated from Rantoul High School. He then began Hotel School at Cornell University and participated in related activities at Martha’s Vineyard, MA. He married and moved to the Chicago area, where he worked for Canfield Beverage Company for more than twenty years, beginning as a route salesman and working his way up to vice-president in charge of sales and marketing.
He later moved to Fort Myers, FL, where he served as president of Bocilla Homes, a company specializing in building houses on islands off the Gulf Coast, most of which could be reached only by boat. In Florida he met and married his wife of the past 28 years, Betsy (Betty) Webber. Together they began a real estate brokerage company, Sanibel Shores Resort Rentals & Realty, on Sanibel Island, where they lived and operated the company for 15 years before deciding to move to Winchester to be near family and enter into semi-retirement.
Not one to remain inactive for long, Mr. Webber became a school custodian at North Middle School, where he served for six years before retiring at age 78. Mr. Webber had been a member of McGregor Baptist Church in Fort Myers, FL, Community Church on Sanibel Island, Highland Hills Church of Christ in Tullahoma, and Riva Lake Baptist Church in Winchester.
Funeral services will be conducted at Watson-North Funeral Home in Winchester, with visitation at 1 p.m. Sunday, September 2, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. and burial immediately afterward in the adjoining cemetery.
