John Robert Farris, age 65, was welcomed home by his heavenly Master, September 14, 2012 while surrounded by his loving sons and family members.  The eighth of nine children, he was born on the first day of January, 1947 in Winchester, Franklin County, TN to Clarence and Annie Farris. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother and father, his brother Jack, sister Helen McCauley and great-grandson Destyn, sister-in-law Pat, and brother-in-laws Dudley Neal and Samuel Reiben.

He is survived by brothers Clyde of Shelbyville, TN, Daniel (and wife Dorris) of Huntland, TN, David Clarence (and wife Kelsey), of Winchester and Carl (and wife Patricia),of Nashville, TN; his sisters Stella Reiben of Estill Springs, TN and Imogene Neal of Winchester, TN and sister-in-law Ruth.

In 1962 John took the hand of Sheila Carla Denton in marriage, which produced five sons- Robert Adell of Manchester, TN, Troy Edward (and wife Lu-Ann) of Winchester, TN, Michael Eldon (and wife Julie) of Nashville, TN, Christopher Dwayne (and wife Kimberly) of Manchester, TN, and Shawn Dale (and partner Jo Alleva), of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren Nikki Farris, Bradley Farris, Cody Farris, Courtney Damron, Bailey Farris, Bethany Farris, Amanda Farris, and Christian Blue Sky Farris; and 7 great-grandchildren.  Over the years John was employed by Mars Oil Co., Sisk Nursery, Bumble Bee Boats, Hydra Sport Boats, Square D, etc, and eventually settled into truck driving for various companies.

His favorite things included trout fishing, gospel music, home cooking and gardening, but above all he loved to tell of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  He will be remembered for his beautiful smile, sweet gentle heart, and ever so easy way about him. His most precious gift he left us all was to remind us of the importance of God and family in our lives- and we are all forever grateful.

We are grateful to all the staff at Alive Hospice at St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville, TN for their help in making this final chapter as peaceful as possible.
