Mr. Thomas “Tommy” David Towry, age 65, of Tullahoma, passed away Monday morning at his residence. He was born in Winchester, TN to the late Samuel and Ruby Pepper Towry. He was a 1968 graduate of Franklin County High School. Tommy enjoyed many hobbies. A skilled craftsman, he built and flew model airplanes with the Coffee Airfoilers, enjoyed woodworking carving, metal working and though he didn’t always enjoy fixing things, he could fix anything. He was a member of Highland Rim Bicycle Club and an avid cyclist. He was a machinist with Schmiede Corp for over 40 years. He retired in 2013. He was a member of New Creation Church where he enjoyed the job of being the “sound man” for eight years. Tommy’s faith in God and his family were the most important things in his life. Tommy served our country for 4 years in the United States Navy where he became a jet engine mehanic.
Tommy is preceded in death by his sister Sandra Boyles. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Patti Lawson Towry; daughter and son-in-law Amy (Matt) Smith; son and daughter-in-law Jeremy (Clara) Towry; grandchildren Foster and Tuck Smith, Isaiah, Micah and Ezra Thomas Towry; brothers Wendell (Shirley) Towry and Lowell Towry; many nieces and nephews that loved him very much. The family will receive friends Wednesday September 9, 2015 from 6-8pm at Tullahoma Funeral Home, the funeral service will be held Thursday September 10, 2015 at 1:00pm at Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Don Burkhalter and Pastor Tim Totty officiating. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
