Funeral services for Mr. Ralph Dayton Powell, age 89, of Manchester, will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charles Williams and Bro. Roger Davis officiating.
Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 noon until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Powell passed away Tuesday evening at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN.
Mr. Powell was born in Summitville, TN, the son of the late Roy Daw and Norine Gertrude Sanders Powell.
He was a brick mason in the construction industry. Ralph was the former manager of bowling alleys in Manchester and Tullahoma, owned the Sportsman Store in Tullahoma, and was the former owner of Little Powell Camper Tops. He loved to play golf and watch hummingbirds. Ralph served his country in the United States Navy as a marine corpsman during the World War II era and hospital corpsman during the Korean conflict.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Alene Powell, who passed away in 2013.
He is survived by one son, Randy (Dina) Powell; one daughter, Sharon Powell; three grandchildren, Tina Gilliam, David Esslinger, and Brandi Mason; seven great grandchildren; and three great, great grandchildren.
