Thomas Melvin Collins Sr., age 69 of Hillsboro, Tennessee passed away,
Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at his residence. Funeral Services are
scheduled for Saturday, November 7 at 2 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home
with burial to follow at Manchester City Cemetery. Visitation with the
family will be Saturday, November 7 from 12 PM until the service time.
A native of Coffee County, Mr. Collins was the son of the late John Malcom
and Alma Veola Smartt Collins. He was a farmer, a milk hauler and school
bus driver for Coffee County Schools. He loved farming and raising goats
and chickens and enjoyed being outside working. He also enjoyed fishing
and some of his favorite times were hosting fish fry gatherings for friends
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy
Sanders Collins; one brother, Malcom John Collins and one sister, Barbara
Mr. Collins is survived by one son, Thomas Collins Jr and his wife, Joy
Rankin of Hillsboro; one daughter, Tammy Beavers and her husband, Frankie
of Manchester; three stepsons, Greg Parsons and his wife, Fawn and Craig
Parsons, all of Tracy City and David Campbell of Manchester; one sister,
Melanie Joyce Crosslin and her husband, Ronnie of Manchester and three
grandchildren, Coltin and Caitlin Beavers and Christopher Collins.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to
Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.
