Funeral services for Mr. Donald Baxter Wiser, age 76, of Hermitage, TN, formerly of Manchester, will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Horace Lee Jacobs officiating.
Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 AM until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Wiser passed away Monday evening at Tennessee Veteran’s Home in Murfreesboro, TN, following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Don was born in Manchester, TN, the son of the late Thomas Baxter and Minnie V. Pearl Williams Wiser.
Don served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a commercial construction superintendent with Paige & Crockett. Don enjoyed woodworking and was known as “a jack of all trades.” He was of the Church of Christ faith.
In addition to his parents, Don was also preceded in death by his loving companion, Dot Johnson; one brother, Edward Wiser; one sister, Barbara Jarrell; and one nephew, Timmy Wiser. He is survived by one sister, Paulette (Jimmy) Thompson of Murfreesboro; three nieces, Christy Jones, Jennifer (Butch) Jacoway, and Kim (Kevin) Slayton; two nephews, Mike (Genie) Jarrell and Jamie (Wendie) Thompson; friend and caregiver, Larry Helton; and his dog, Tanner.
