10/13/15 — Mildred Sue Gravitt Cox

coxMildred (Mick) Sue Gravitt Cox passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015, at Harton Hospital. She was born in Athens, Tennessee, on July 14, 1923. She retired as a cook and baker at East Middle School. In her younger days, she performed on several radio broadcasts as a singer of gospel music as a member of both a duet and a quartet. She enjoyed watching game shows on TV, gospel music, UT football, quilting, and her family. She was a member of Marble Plains Baptist Church. Preceding her in death were her husband William M Cox Sr.; parents Ollie and Mamie Kimbro Gravitt; and siblings Marie Pelfrey, Thelma Ware, Paul Gravitt, and R E Gravitt. She is survived by three sons, Bill (Jan), Tullahoma; John (Amy), Hollywood, Ala.; and Jim, Bon Aire, Ga.; a sister Mary Swafford, Athens, Tn.; grandchilden Nathan Cox, Tullahoma; Jared (Jessica) Cox, Murfreesboro, Tn.; Jamie (Tim) Hall and Jason Phelps, all of Madison, Ala.; and Courtney Cox, Bon Aire, Ga.; great- grandchildren Kaitlin, Zada, Chesnie, Hinley, Callie Ann, and Harvin. She is also survived by very special friends Jelene Smith and Janet Carter. Visitation will be Monday, October 12 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Daves- Culbertson Funeral Home, with the funeral on Tuesday, October 13, at 2:00 in the chapel at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home, with Dr. Don Dixon and Bro. Jack Hice officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
