A preliminary hearing for Robert Travis Rosson was held on Thursday. Judge Jere Ledsinger lowered Rosson’s bond from $500,000 to $75,000 and his case was bound over to the August term of the grand jury.
He is accused of pulling a knife and allegedly lunging at a Coffee County Sheriff’s deputy on June 11. The deputy, Phillip Smith, then fired 3 shots at him, striking him in the shoulder and the thigh.
Rosson was flown to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga where he underwent surgery to repair his shoulder.
He was taken back to the Coffee County Jail after Thursday’s hearing.
