Heavy smoke and fire destroys a Hillsboro home on Thursday night… Photos by Barry West

A fire was reported at about 8:15 Thursday night in Hillsboro. The home owned by Matt Holder was fully engulfed when the Hillsboro Fire Department arrived. No one was at home at the time of the fire. The home was totally destroyed and two automobiles badly damaged.
Other Coffee County fire departments were called to the scene assist Hillsboro. The cause of the fire is undetermined and is under investigation.

The family lost everything in the blaze except for the clothes on their backs, according to a family member. The Holder family is in need of clothing; Matt wears 2x in shirts, 13 in shoes, and 38×32 pants. His 10 year old son wears a youth large and adult small shirts, 10 in shoes, and size 11 pants. 18 year old boy wears 32×34 pants, extra large long shirt, and 15 shoes. The Mom wears size 8 pants, Medium shirt, 10 shoe. Bring items to the Manchester Fire Station #1 on the Hillsboro Blvd and they will get the donations to the family.
