5/9/12 — Brent L. Gipson

Brent L. Gipson, age 66 of Winchester, TN passed away Monday, May 7, 2012 at his residence.

Raised in Roarks Cove, he graduated from Franklin Co. High School in 1964 and was a graduate of MTSU majoring in history.

A Vietnam Veteran who served in the US Air Force, he was a retail store supervisor for Brad Ragan Tire Co. in Salisbury, NC for many years.

Upon retiring, he was able to pursue his hobbies of gardening, fishing, historic memorabilia and his love of nature.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Solomon Gipson; his parents, Charles Burt Gipson and Annie Estelle Church Gipson; and brother, Charles Gipson.

Survived by sons, Scott A. (Jeanette) Gipson of Nashville and Keith Allen (Ashleigh) Gipson of Estill Springs: sisters, Gloria Gipson (Gary) Toney of Centre, AL and Jean Gipson White of Decherd; brother, L. Hollis Gipson of Decherd; grandchildren, Keiton, Sawyer and Eli Gipson; several nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Susan Beech and Wanda Gipson and many friends.

Visitation is 5-8 PM Tuesday at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev. David Wall officiating.

Interment at Harmony Cemetery.

5/6/12 — Janice Warmbrod Bennett

Janice Warmbrod Bennett, age 66, of Blairsville, GA passed away Sunday, May 6th, 2012 at her home.

She was born on September 24th, 1946 in Winchester, TN to the late Arthur & Ruby Warmbrod.

Janice was a very loving wife and mother. She was a Coca-Cola USA retiree and was of the Presbyterian faith.

Janice will be deeply missed by her family and many friends, especially those of the Cozy Cove neighborhood on Lake Nottely.

Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years J. Stephen Bennett and daughter and son-in-law, Candace and David Christensen of Blairsville, GA and brother-in-law Charles Washington of Peachtree City, GA; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.

The first viewing will be Wednesday, May 9th, 2012 from 6-9 at Mountain View Funeral Home in Blairsville, GA.

A second viewing will be held at Belvidere First United Church, UCC in Belvidere, TN Saturday May 12th, at 2:00 pm and funeral with the Rev. Debbie Douglas officiating at 3:00 pm.

Special music will be presented by Dan Warmbrod.

Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.

5/12/12 — Gerald “JB” or “Doc” Blumenstock

Gerald  “JB” or “Doc” Blumenstock of Lynchburg passed away Sunday May 6, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Winchester at the age of 67.

A native of Detroit, MI he was the son of the late Kenneth Blumenstock and Geneive Jarsik who survives.

He was a Body Shop owner and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his mother, Geneive Jarsik of MI, wife; Joyce Blumenstock of Lynchburg, son; Gerald Grenello  of McMinnville, daughter, Laura Jean Brown of Lynchburg, brother; Todd Christopher Blumenstock  of IN., sister; Carol Jean Fiedler of MI. 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Step-sons, Randy and Billy George of Lynchburg, step-daughter, Lisa Watson of Decherd and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday May 11, 2012 from 5 til 8 P.M. at Lynchburg Funeral Home.

Services will be at 2 P.M. on Saturday May 12, 2012 at the Lynchburg Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Glenn Thomas and Bro. Johnny Carr officiating.

Burial will follow at the Beech Hill Cemetery.

5/10/12 — Sheila Marie Rickles Istre

Sheila Marie Rickles Istre, age 47, of Tullahoma, Tenn., departed this life suddenly on Monday, May 7, 2012 at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma.

Sheila was born in Shelby, Miss. She was disabled.  Sheila was a member of the Way of The Cross Church in Winchester. 

She was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Ray Howard, Jr.

She is survived by her parents; Lucille and Jerry Howard, sons; Jay (Carrie) Rickles, Justin Rickles, paternal grandmother, Lena Howard all of Tullahoma, brothers; Kenny (Traci) Howard of Hillsboro, Jamie (Vanessa) Howard of Estill Springs and Kevin (Vickie) Howard of Tullahoma, sisters; Mary Owens of Tullahoma, Tressia (Kenny) Jacobs of Hillsboro, Melissa Smith of Murfreesboro and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Services for Sheila are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday in the chapel of Grant Funeral Services. 

Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 A.M. Thursday until Service time at 2:00 with Bro. Paul Howard and Bro. Rudy Wilkinson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery in Tullahoma.

5/12/12 — Malcolm K. King


Mr. Malcolm K. King, age 65, of Morrison, passed away Sunday, at the Alvin C. York Medical Center in Murfreesboro.

A native of Monteagle, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Dillard and Sara King.

He worked in the maintenance department at Carrier, was of the Christian faith, and was a brave US Army veteran.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Davis King, three daughters; Julianne (James) Gokey of Monteagle, Stacie (Keith) Anthony of Manchester, and Jennifer King of Manchester, two sons; Jason King of Morrison and James King of Tullahoma, 14 grandchildren; Avery, Owen, Wyatt, Emmit, Paul, Tara, Elora, Kiara, Caleb, Sierra, Nathan, Aaron, Sebastian (and his mother Veronica) and Brooklyn (and her mother Danielle), two sisters; Mary Bailey and Carol (Ben) Arnold, both of Peoria, IL., and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, from 5:00PM until 9:00PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, at 11:00AM in the chapel of the Tullahoma Funeral Home with Jason King officiating.

Burial, with military honors, will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Warren County.

5/12/12 — Michael Saveree Thompson Sr.

Michael Saveree Thompson Sr., of Normandy, passed this life on Sunday, May 6th 2012 at his residence at the age of 45.

Born in Richmond, Kentucky, Mr. Thompson was the owner of Mike Thompson Ford located in Tullahoma. He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, a member of the Tullahoma Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Executive Board, and CEO partner, and a member of the United Way.

He has coached Tullahoma Little League Baseball since 1998 coaching the following Little League Teams, the Orioles, White Sox, and the Little League City Champs the A’s in 2005, 2006, and 2007. He also coached the 2006 and 2007 Tullahoma American District Champs. Mike coached the following Little League Minor teams, the Reds and the Mariners. He was the coach for the Padres in Coach pitch league, and the Lion’s Club in Babe Ruth. His proudest moment as a coach came when his 11&12 year olds, Tullahoma American State Champs, made it to the Regional Finals in St. Petersburg, FL in 2007.  The 9 & 10 year old team he coached in 2011 was the Tullahoma American District Champs. Mike coached various travel teams, football teams, soccer teams and has donated money to about every sports organization in the area.

Mr. Thompson is preceded in death by his grandfather, Purcell Saveree Moyer.

He is survived by his grandmother, Bernice McClammer of Charlottesville, VA; his father, George Michael Thompson of New Smyrna Beach, FL; and his mother, Brenda Mehring (Tony) also of New Smyrna Beach, FL; his wife, Lori Thompson of Normandy; seven children, Kayla Torres and husband Isaac of Orlando, FL, Jared Thompson of Memphis, TN, Joshua, Nicholas, Olivia, Michael Jr., and Nathan Thompson all of Normandy; one sister, Liz Baker and husband Chris of Manchester; one grandson, Aiden Torres; niece and nephews, Dalton, Dakota Baker, and Faith Baker and Jacob Friedman.

Visitation for Mr. Thompson will be held on Friday, May 11th, 2012 at Kilgore Funeral Home from 4:00pm-9:00pm with the funeral Saturday, May 12th, 2012 at 2:00pm in The Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Father Stephen A. Klasek officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the “Mike Thompson Little League Scholarship Fund” at Southern Community Bank.

5/12/12 — Quanchan “Quan” Devon Nard

Quanchan “Quan” Devon Nard of Winchester, departed from this life on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Born on October 29, 1975 in Winchester, Tennessee; Quan is a 1994 class graduate of Franklin County High School.

In his spare time he enjoyed remodeling and rebuilding old truck and motorcycles.

In 2006 He married the love of his life April.

Mr. Nard is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clay and Roy Hill; maternal grandparents, Dessie and Earnest Nard.

He is survived by his wife of 5 years April Nard of Winchester; children, DaShawsa, Bre, Brittany, Taylor and Tyreek all of Winchester; step-children, Alesis and DeAndre Young both of Winchester; parents, Earnestine (Vonnie) Nard and Chaney Hill of Cowan; brother, Rico (Galinda) Nard of Winchester; nieces, Alexus Nard and Chloe Nard of Winchester; nephew Bishop Nard of Winchester; several aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 1pm from the chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in Thorogood Cemetery with friends and family serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 12, 2012 from 12 until time of service.

5/9/12 — Shirley Iris Brzazowsky Nall

Shirley Iris Brzazowsky Nall, who turned 90, on April 24 joined her husband,  William C. Nall, and great-granddaughter, Samantha Dwyne Abbott, in heaven on
May 7, 2012.

The amazing vibrant woman known as “Granny” by so many devoted her time and love to her family. Her handmade quilts are precious treasures for those to be wrapped in her love. In her “spare” time, she enjoyed tending to her flowers and nature. She was a member of First Methodist Church and American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.

She will be greatly missed by her four children: Billy C. (Rhonda) Nall of Franklin, TN, Linda Abbott Burnett of Tullahoma, TN, Ronald (Linda) Nall of Rockmart, GA, Lisa (Grey) Brendle of Winnsboro, SC; eight grandchildren Stacie (Keith) Brawley, Bob (Dwyne) Abbott, Terri (Tim) Hathaway, Matthew & Joseph Nall, Jonathan, Katie, & Jeremy Nall; five great grandchildren Kelsey & Kyle Brawley, Ellis Abbott, Joseph & Iris Hathaway. Also missing her will be two loving sisters, Lois Haynes and Lavina Burget of Rapid City, SD along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Tuesday, May 8th at Tullahoma Funeral Home.

5/9/12 — Larry Stanley Ezell

Larry Stanley Ezell, age 68 of Winchester, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro.

He was born May 8, 1943; the son of the late Stanley Wright and Frances (Swafford) Ezell.

Mr. Ezell worked for many years as a pharmacist in Winchester and Decherd.

Surviving are sons, David (Emily) Ezell of Winchester, TN and Steven (Kathleen) Ezell of Nashville, TN, daughter, Leigh Ann (Brandon) Perry of Winchester, TN, sister, Jean (Dick) Savage of Huntsville, AL; and grandchildren, Anna Ezell, Laura Ezell, Caleb Bean, and Caden Perry.

A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday in the Moore-Cortner Chapel.

Interment will be in Franklin Memorial Gardens, Winchester, TN.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.

55/4/12 — Billy L. “Corky” Jones

Billy L. “Corky” Jones, age 74, of Hillsboro, passed away on Friday, May 4 at Horizon Health and Rehab Center in Manchester.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

Corky was born in Coffee County, TN, the son of the late John Paul Jones and Vennie Medley Jones.

He was retired from J.H. Motors in Houston, TX.  Corky served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War era and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.  He was a member of Manchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his parents, Corky was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Jones and one brother, Paul Truman “Pete” Jones.

He is survived by three children, Shane (Candace) Jones, Cynthia (George) Klosel, and Lisa (Tim) Stewart; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Dara Jones, Carole (John) Logan, and Suzi (Butch) Fish; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
