10/2/12 — Gerald Oliver Smith Sr.

Mr. Gerald Oliver Smith Sr., age 87 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Alive Hospice of St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville, Tennessee.

A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date in Buchanan, Michigan.

Mr. Smith was born January 6, 1925 at Bear Cave Farm in Buchanan, Michigan.  He was the son of the late Elza and Evelyne Devine Smith.  Mr. Smith was a WW II Veteran, serving in the Army Air Force in the CBI Asiatic-Pacific Theater.  He was retired from National Standard in Niles, Michigan where he worked for 27 years as a machinist and foreman. After retiring, he worked for eleven years at the Brookwood Golf Course.  He was a member of the American Legion, the Buchanan Westerners Riding Club and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Buchanan, Michigan.  He loved to hunt and fish from his cabin in Bitely, Michigan.  He and his wife of 65 years, Dolores Haack Smith had recently relocated from Buchanan, Michigan to Manchester, Tennessee.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Gerrie Evelyne; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Pauline and Bud Mikesell and Margaret and Robert Naragon and one great granddaughter, Chelsea Chappell.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Smith is survived by one son, Gerald Smith Jr. and his fiancé, Terre of Buchanan, Michigan; two daughters, Virginia Sain-Farrar and her husband, Kerry of Manchester, TN. and Margaret Gridley and her husband Richard of Manchester, Tennessee; three granddaughters; three grandsons; one step-grandson and ten great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, Tennessee, 37203.

10/4/12 — Linda Joyce Hoover Partin

Linda Joyce Hoover Partin, age 63, passed away on October 1, 2012 at Harton Medical Center in Tullahoma, TN.

She was born on November 6, 1948 in Franklin County. She was the daughter of the late J.A. and Myrna Morris Hoover. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bro. Larry (Buck) Partin, brother, John T. Hoover and niece, Sherry Brazier.

She is survived by daughter, Lisa (Jeff) Partin, sons, Ryan (Kasha) Partin and Lonnie (Tammy) Partin, sisters, Brenda (Roy) Sons, Faye (Harvey) Brewer, and Wanda (William) Hester, sister-in-law, Faye Hoover, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, seven nephews and four nieces.

A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with the Rev. Randy Jackson officiating.

Interment will be in Franklin Memorial Gardens, Winchester, TN.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.

10/4/12 — James D. Bratcher, Sr.

James Dietzen Bratcher, Sr. went on to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012 at the age of 75.

A native of Red Bank, Tennessee, was born July 20th, 1937. Jim graduated from Red Bank High School in 1955. He was co-captain of the 1954 Red Bank High School football team where he received numerous awards. He attended Carson Newman College and graduated in 1959. He was the captain of the 1958 Carson Newman football team. Jim joined ARO, Inc. at AEDC in 1959 as an Instrumentation Engineer in the Instrument Branch of the Propulsion Wind Tunnel Facility. Over the next few years he developed his expertise in optical instrumentation and became a pioneer in the development and application of flow visualization techniques and high speed photography for wind tunnel testing. He became the Supervisor of the Optical Instrumentation Group in 1963 and continued to lead this group until his retirement in 1993. Mr. Bratcher served as a director on the board of the Tennessee Credit Union League from 1988 to 1994. He served the AEDC Federal Credit Union as follows: A member of the Credit Committee from 1981 to 1986; member of the Advisory Committee from October 1986 to March 1987; member of the Board of Directors from 1987 to December 1997. During his 10 years on the board, he served as Secretary in 1994 and Vice Chairman from 1995 to 1996. Organized and was the President of the Tullahoma Dart Association and was inducted into the Tennessee Dart Hall of Fame. On January 6th, 1997, he was involved in a traffic accident that left him permanently and totally disabled.

Mr. Bratcher was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Margurite Dietzen Bratcher and younger brother, Nick Bratcher, all of Chattanooga.

He is survived by three brothers Claude Bratcher, Jr., Ten Mile, TN, Ted (Judy) Bratcher, Red Bank, TN, Robert (Maleta) Bratcher, Jackson, TN, daughter Brenda (Steve) Bratcher Ball, Murfreesboro, TN, son James D. Bratcher, Jr, Tullahoma; grandchildren James D. (Deanna) Bratcher, III, Wesley (Jill) Pless, Diana Bratcher (Todd) Murray, and Corey Pless; five great-grandchildren Mason and Katelyn Bratcher, Jacy Kate and Makayla Murray, and Olivia Pless.

Family visitation will be held Thursday October 4th, 2012 at 11:00am in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service immediately following at 1:00 pm.

10/4/12 — Charles Walter McCarl

Mr. Charles Walter McCarl, age 54, of Tullahoma, passed away Monday morning at Harton Regional Medical Center.

A native of Harvey, Illinois, he is the son of the late Albert McCarl and Mary Stevens McCarl.

He was formerly employed by Total Graphics as a printer. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by one sister, Carol Finch and one brother, Bruce McCarl.

He is survived by his loving wife Tina McCarl of Tullahoma, one son Adam McCarl and his girlfriend Whitney of Tullahoma, one daughter Christinia McCarl of Vacaville, CA., and 4 Grandchildren Brianna, Christian, Madison, and Paislee McCarl.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.

There will be a private family burial at a later date.

10/4/12 — Clarence Edward Ghea

Mr. Clarence Edward Ghea, age 84, of Tullahoma, passed away Sunday night at Harton Regional Medical Center.

A native of Coffee County, he is the son of the late Thomas R. and Jimmie Lou Guthrie Ghea.

He was a retired driver and technician with Cumberland Heights, a brave Army Veteran, having served his country in the Korean War, and was of the Christian faith.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by five brothers, Lewis, Charlie, Johnny, Elmer, and Alton Ghea, two sisters Dorothy Frazier, Ann Ghea, and one half- sister Mamie Holder.

He is survived by one daughter, Renee McMahan of Manchester, two sons, Mickey Ghea of Tullahoma and Eddie Ghea of Manchester, five grandchidren, and one brother Kenneth Ghea of Nashville.

10/1/12 — Leeroy “BoBo” Amos

Leeroy   “BoBo” Amos, age 70 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on September 27, 2012.
He  was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator.
He was preceded in death by his wife  Evelyn “Pug” Amos; and parents, Henry Amos and Otsie Hill Amos.
He is survived  by children, Melinda (Anthony) Elmer of Michigan, Juliet (Joe) Arthur of  Manchester and Kathryn (James) Fishe of Manchester; two brothers; two sisters;  eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and  friends.
Visitation will be on Monday, October 1, 2012 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at  Grace Baptist Church in Manchester.
The Service will follow at 6:00 p.m. at  Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Evans officiating.

10/3/12 — Ruby Alice Cowser

Ruby Alice Cowser, age 100 of Winchester, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2012, at Southern TN Medical Center in Winchester.

She was born April 4, 1912 in Winchester; the daughter of the late Bose and Louella (Cole) Boswell. Mrs. Cowser was preceded in death by her husband, A.B. Cowser, daughter, Treva Ann Hill, brothers, W.B. and Paul Boswell and sisters, Virginia Boswell and Hazel Moorehead.

Surviving are son-in-law, Wayne Hill of Belvidere, TN, grandsons, Mark (Merry) Hill of San Antonio, TX, Dwight (Brenda) Hill of Winchester, TN and Hal (Joy) Hill of Belvidere, TN,; and great-grandchildren, Matthew Hill, Michael Hill, Josh Hill, Zac Hill, Bethany Hill and Haley Hill.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with the Rev. Buddy Alverson and Rev. Joseph Butler officiating.

Interment will be in Franklin Memorial Gardens, Winchester, TN.

9/30/12 — Gary Wayne Stevens

Gary Wayne Stevens, age 55 of Sherwood, passed away Friday, September 28, 2012 at his residence.

He was a boilermaker and a member of the Sherwood Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Stevens and a brother, Donald Stevens.

Survivors include his wife, Jo-Ann Sparks-Stevens; mother, Mae Stevens; brother, Ronald Stevens, all of Sherwood; sisters, Brenda Coleen Summers of Sherwood and Carolyn Cole of Irving, TX; nieces, Leigh Ann Summers, Jamie Stevens and Carrie Sparks McClain; great-niece, Abbey McClain.

Visitation is 4-8 PM Saturday at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro. Johnny Stevens and Bro. Ray Winton officiating.

Interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery. Leon Stevens, Lonnie Stevens, Randy Stevens, Danny Crownover, Ricky Johnson and Brandon Bishop will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Chattanooga Local 454.

10.3.12 — Roy B. Riddle

Roy B. Riddle, age 86 of Winchester, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012 at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Eda (Sons) Riddle; wife Eliza Honey Riddle; and brothers James and Herman Riddle.

Survivors include sons Kenneth (Jean) Riddle of Winchester, J.R. (Debra) Riddle of Lynchburg, Neil (Anita) Riddle of Decherd, and Ronnie (Barbara) Riddle of Estill Springs; daughter Nancy (Darrell) Partin of Winchester; grandchildren Steven Riddle, Tabatha Gardner, Heather Wright, Keith Riddle, Kevin Riddle, Karen Matthews, Ronica Riddle, Jonathan Riddle, Tonya Dotson, Jr. Partin and Anna Partin; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sisters Johnnie Evans of Tullahoma and Loda Carpenter of Hendersonville.

Visitation is 5-9 PM Monday and Tuesday at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be 2 PM Wednesday, October 3 at Moore-Cortner Chapel with John Partin Jr. and Donald Gregory officiating.

Interment will be in Pennington Cemetery.

10/3/12 — Robbie Gene Frame

Robbie  Gene Frame, age 73 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on September 30, 2012.
 
He retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation and was a cabinet maker and carpet installer for over 18 years.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Lonnie Buchanan Frame and Willie Claytie Anderson Frame. Robbie was a member of the Hatties Chapel Baptist Church.
 
He is survived by his sons, Flint Frame and his wife Carolyn of Manchester, Shang Frame and his wife Lorrie of Manchester; daughter, Renee Frame Nieciecki and her husband Tommy of Murfreesboro; sisters, Dean Jones (Lonnie) of Jasper, AL and Donna Smallwood (Mike) of Rome, GA; brothers, Billy Frame (Dottie), Jewell Frame (Debbie) and Dale Frame all of Manchester; nine grandchildren, Gina (Zach) Howard, Brittany West, Cody (Taylor) Frame, Shang Frame II, Dalton Frame, Micah Frame, Sean Nieciecki, Seth Nieciecki, and Logan Nieciecki; two great-grandchildren, Alayna Howard and Aliyah Howard;and a host of other relatives and friends.
 
Visitation will be on Tuesday evening, October 2, 2012 from 5:00 p.m.  until 8:00 p.m.
 
The Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home with Brother Danny Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at the Farrar Hill Cemetery.
