5/26/12 — Christopher Patrick Hodge

Christopher Patrick Hodge, age 47, of Hartsville, Tennessee passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, Tennessee. Inurnment Services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Mr. Hodge, a native of Tullahoma, Tennessee was born January 19, 1965. He was the son of the late James and Linda Brewster Hodge. He was a construction worker.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda Coleman Hodge of Hartsville, Tennessee; two sons, Derek Adam Hodge and his fiancé, Jennifer of Manchester, TN. and Justin Cody Hodge and his wife, Shayna of Manchester, TN.; five daughters, Adrianna Chelsea Parker and her husband, Ross of Manchester, TN., Courtney Taylor Hodge of Manchester, TN., Christa Faith Hodge, Michaela Jean-Marie Hodge and Gabriela June Hodge all of Hartsville, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Gavin Alexander Hodge and Kylee Brook Parker and three brothers: Gregory Edward Hodge of Nashville, TN., Michael Dewayne Hodge and his wife, Sonni of Manchester and Brian Keith Hodge and his wife, Kim of Manchester, TN.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the Christopher Patrick Hodge Memorial at First National Bank of Manchester. Donations may be made at the Manchester, Woodbury or Murfreesboro branches or mailed to 100 W. High Street, Manchester, TN. 37355.

5/23/12 — Roy Martin Young

ROY MARTIN YOUNG, age 55, of Tullahoma, Tenn., departed this life suddenly on Friday, May 18, 2012 at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma.  

He was born in Ft. Worth, Texas to the late Roy and Geneva Martin Young.   

Mr. Young was of the Baptist faith.  He was a truck driver and loved riding his Harley.  He was a Marine Veteran. 

He is survived by his ex-wife, Cathy Young, daughter, Shauna Young both of Manchester, Tenn., son, Charlie (Jennifer Mae) Young of Tullahoma, 4-grandchildren; Jessica Chaffin, Joanna Coleman, Jeremy Coleman, Kayla Farris and 2-great-grandchildren; Layla Chaffin and Amelia Wise.

Services for Mr. Young are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services with Bro. Mike Morris officiating.   

Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 until service time at 2:00 on Wednesday.   

Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery in Tullahoma with Military honors bestowed.

5/29/12 — Dolly Dee Brackin Arnold Comtois

Funeral services for Dolly Dee Brackin Arnold Comtois, age 87, of Manchester, will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Fields officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Mill Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Comtois passed away Tuesday, May 22 at Horizon Health and Rehab in Manchester.

Mrs. Comtois was born in Frostproof, FL, the daughter of the late James Maryland and Emma Leora Grace Bracken.

She was an underwriter for Aetna Insurance Company and was a member of Wesley Heights United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Dolly was also preceded in death by her husband, Carey Talmadge Arnold; four sisters, Olivia Victoria Bacon, Ida Mae Bacon, Theadora White, and Julia Dell Goss; and two brothers, Dock Brackin and James Brackin.

She is survived by one sister, Daisy Ree Robinette; her faithful caregivers, niece Karen Zukosky, niece Robbie Robinette, great nephew Kimberly Rahner, great niece Carrie McMillan; nephew, Robert Hensel; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Wesley Heights United Methodist Church, 2101 E. Lincoln Street, Tullahoma, TN  37388.

5/28/12 — Stephanie Moreen Johnson

Stephanie Moreen Johnson, age 38, of Decherd, passed away Sunday May 20, 2012 at her home. 

She will be remembered as a very caring and giving person who lived her life to the fullest.  She enjoyed loud music while she drove her cross-over jeep, fishing, baking cupcakes, and caring for animals, but above all else, she absolutely loved and adored her daughter with all her heart. 

Stephanie is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, James Cavin, paternal grandfather, Elliott Johnson and cousin, Keith McCarthy. 

She is survived by her daughter, Olivia Nicole Johnson of Decherd; parents, Noreen and David Johnson of Mokena, IL; brothers, Christopher (Page) Johnson of Lancaster, SC and Greg (Kathy) Johnson of Chicago, IL; nephews, Riley and Brooks Johnson; companion, Tara Westerly of Decherd; aunts, Penny Adolf of Oregon and Shirley (Dennis) McCarthy of Redding, CA; uncles, James (Diane) Cavin of Casa Granda, AZ; maternal grandmother, Gladys Cavin of San Leandro, CA and paternal grandmother Leora Johnson of Salem, OR. 

A memorial service will be conducted from the chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home on Monday May 28 at 11 a.m. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

5/20/12 — Terry Eugene Gimlin




Terry Eugene Gimlin age 68 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on May 14, 2012 at the Medical Center of Manchester. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Raymond Jr. Gimlin and Opal Juanita French Gimlin.

Terry loved all sports, especially his Chicago Cubs and the Tennessee Titans. He will be greatly missed by his family and his “family” at the Manchester Health Care Center. Terry or “Big Bubby”, as he was affectionately known by his only sister, loved to attend church and was a blessing to all.

He is survived by his sister, Eva Walden and her husband Edgar of Manchester;

niece, Michelle DeVries (Richard) of Michigan City, Indiana;

great nephews, David DeVries (Caitlyn) and Christopher DeVries both of Michigan City, IN;

great-great nephews, Zachary and Tristan DeVries both of Michigan City, IN; and

special friend, Aileen Goolsby.

A Memorial Service was conducted on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 1:30 p.m.

5/23/12 — Janet louise Towry

Janet Louise Towry  of Hillsboro, went to the arms of Jesus on Sunday, May 20th, 2012 at her residence at the age of 61.
Mrs. Towry was born in Louisville Kentucky to the late George and Dorothy Clark Nalley.
During her life, Mrs. Towry was a Special Education Teacher for the Franklin County School System, working at both Dechard Elementary School and Northlake Elementary School. She was a member of the Tennessee Education Association, The Charismatic Catholic Group and was a Volunteer with the Special Olympics.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Towry is preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Nalley and one sister Delores Rose.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Towry of Hillsboro; one brother, Michael Nalley of Tullahoma; four sisters, Betty Fluhr of Louisville, KY, Carol Simmons and her husband Billy of Lynchburg, Pat Crosslin of Tullahoma, and Debbie Garner of Manchester; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mrs. Towry will be held on Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012 from 5:00-9:00pm at Kilgore Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012 at 2:00pm at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Stephen A. Klasek officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

5/27/12 — Charles Glen Evans

Memorial services for Dr. Charles Glen Evans, age 81, of Tullahoma will be held, Sunday, May 27, 2012 at 2 PM at the Coffee County Funeral Chapel.

Visitation with the family will be Sunday, May 27, 2012 from 1 PM till service time. 

Dr. Evans passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012 in Tullahoma, Tennessee.

Dr. Evans, a native of Coffee County, Tennessee was the son of the late Henry Clay and Cora Elder Evans. 

He was a Dentist in the U. S. Navy where he served for 28 years.    He was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Tullahoma.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and in the last few years was active in the Tullahoma Senior Citizens.

In addition to his parents, Dr. Evans was preceded in death by his wife, Sara “Joann” Smith Evans; one brother, Henry Evans and one sister, Mary Adeline Nomer.

He is survived by one son, John Mark Evans of Murfreesboro; three grandchildren, Jordan, Keaton and Dylan Evans, all of Murfreesboro and one great grandson, Asher Gray Peyton.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the American Cancer Society.

5/20/12 — Luanna Amanda Reed Parratt

Luanna Amanda Reed Parratt, age 25 of Chattanooga, TN and former Hillsboro resident, passed into rest on May 16, 2012.

Luanna was born on September 29, 1986 in Manchester, Tennessee to her parents, Robert “Bob” A. Reed and Linda Lee Histed Reed of Hillsboro, TN who survive. She is also survived by her husband, Andrew Parratt of Chattanooga, TN; sisters, Carolyn Swilling (Jason) of Murfreesboro, TN  and Alyssa Reed of Hillsboro, TN; brothers, Andrew Reed (Aja) of Chula Vista, CA,  Peter Reed of Oxford, MS,  Michael Reed (Kin) of Greutli-Laager, TN,  Timothy Reed (Elizabeth) of Tullahoma, TN,  David Reed, Jonathan Reed and Jordan Reed all of Hillsboro, TN; parents-in-law, Col. and Mrs. Jack Moore of Dayton, TN; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Luanna’s family wishes to express their sincere thanks for the love and support of our church families and friends. It is our wish that Luanna’s untimely death will bring others into a saving relationship with Jesus.

Visitation was on Sunday, May 20, 2012 from 2:00 –  4:00 P.M.

The Funeral Service followed at 4:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home with Bob Reed and Dr.Brenton Cox officiating.

Burial was at the Hillsboro United Methodist Church Cemetery.

5/24/12 — Martha Steele Burbage

Martha Steele Burbage, age 88 of Huntland, Tennessee passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012, at Golden Living Center Mountainview in Winchester.

She was born February 28, 1924 in Birmingham, Alabama; the daughter of the late Otis Bennett and Grady (Hinshaw) Steele.

She was a member of the Huntland United Church.

Mrs. Burbage was preceded in death by son, James Michael Burbage, brothers, Bill, Jack and O.B. Steele, and grandson James Dewayne Burbage.

Surviving are husband, James K. Burbage; daughter, Melanie A. Burbage of Huntland, TN, brothers, James L. Steele of Atlanta, GA and Bob Steele of Indiana as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with the Rev. Chris Haynes officiating.

Interment will be in Franklin Memorial Gardens, Winchester, TN.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.

5/22/12 — Jane Boatman

Jane Boatman, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Saturday, May 19th, 2012 at Harton Regional Medical Center at the age of 69.

Mrs. Boatman was born in Tullahoma to the late Russell and Georgia Bentley.

During her life, she worked as a Credit Coordinator for Lowes and was a member of Grundy Street Church of Christ in Tullahoma.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Boatman is preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara McAnally and Roberta Golden.

She is survived by her husband, James R. Boatman Jr. of Tullahoma; one daughter, Diana Bisby and her husband Troy of Tullahoma; two sons, Jimmy Boatman of Estill Springs and Lee Edwin Boatman and his wife Lisa of Murfreesboro; two brothers, Milton Bentley and his wife Joyce Ann of Tullahoma and Jerry Bentley of Manchester; three sisters, Joyce Mangrum and her husband J.C. of Normandy, Brenda Stephens and her husband Randy of Winchester, and Nancy Langford and her husband Butch of Normandy; seven grandchildren, Alan and Eric Bisby, Michael (Kayla), Emma, Logan and Sam Boatman, and Steven Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mrs. Boatman will be held on Monday, May 21st, 2012 from 5:00-8:00pm at Kilgore Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012 at 2:00pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Phillip Davis officiating.

Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tullahoma.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, 201 West Lincoln Street, Tullahoma, TN 37388.
