7/29/12 — John Aaron Sargent

Mr. John Aaron Sargent age 70 of Altamont, Tennessee passed away Friday, July 27, 2012, at Extended Family Care in Manchester.

He served in the U.S. Army, and was a retired truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel Aaron, and Bertha Mae Sargent.

Survivors include his children Amanda and her husband Dustin Barrett, and Krystal Williams; brothers Joseph E. Sargent, Jess Sargent, Sam Sargent, and Jim Sargent, Carol Cope; sister, Lucille Neeley; grandchildren Mallory Northcutt Barrett, Ashlyn Hicks, Kaylin Barrett, and Saul Barrett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, July 29, 2012 in the chapel of Foster & Lay Funeral Home. Pastor Micah Roberts will officiate.

Interment will be in Lappin Cemetery Monteagle, TN.

The family will receive friends 3:00 – 9:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

7/28/12 — Billy Wayne Posey

Billy Wayne Posey, age 56 of Huntland, Tennessee passed from this life on Thursday, July 26, 2012, at his home.

He was born August 9, 1955 in Winchester; the son of the late Oliver M. and Vera Pauline (Medley) Posey.

He worked as a brick-layer and he loved to watch the deer around his home.

Surviving are son, Billy DeWayne Posey of Dyer, IN, daughter, Shayne Posey of Dyer, IN, sisters, Rose Maynard of Huntland, TN, Shirley Horton of Belvidere, TN and Fay Conn of Winchester, TN.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 28, 2012 in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with the Rev. David Baker and Rev. Mike Robertson officiating.

Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 27, 2012, at the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 300 First Ave. NW, Winchester.

Margaret Ann Boles Liveoak, age 47 of Athens, Alabama passed away July 20, 2012 in Manchester, TN.
She was preceded in death by mother, Betty Jo Dean Boles and brother, John L. Casper.

7/28/12 — Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Robinson

Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Robinson, age 89 of Rogersville, AL formerly of Sherwood, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012.

She was born in Sherwood, TN to the late Walter Lynch and Mary Esther Huffer Lynch.

She was a member of the Christ Church in Monteagle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur James Robinson, Jr.; brother, Carlton Lynch; and sisters, Virginia Wilson and Dorothy Lynch.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary (Larry) Jones of Rogersville, AL; sister, Marjorie (Bob) Dumas of Decatur, AL; granddaughter, Emily (Michael) McKay; great grandson, Colton McKay; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5-8 PM Friday at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Christ Church Monteagle.

Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.

7/28/12 — Danny Ray Burks

Funeral services for Mr. Danny Ray Burks, age 50, of Manchester, will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Willie Bradford officiating.

Burial will follow in Simmons Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Friday, July 27 at the funeral home.

Mr. Burks passed away Wednesday evening at Medical Center of Manchester.

Mr. Burks was born in Coffee County, TN, the son of Kenneth C. Burks and the late Carolyn Reed Burks.

He was employed as a maintenance technician and attended Mt. View Church of Christ. He enjoyed turkey hunting and was a member of the National Wildlife Turkey Association and the National Rifle Association.

Mr. Burks is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Bradford Burks of Manchester; one son, James Ricky Neely of Manchester; two sisters, Patsy Cottle of Manchester and Tammy (Kerry) Seals; niece, Carol Curtis; nephew, Christopher Hill; and several great nieces and nephews.

7/28/12 — Jerald Wyatt Morgan

Funeral services for Mr. Jerald Wyatt Morgan, age 59, of Manchester, will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at New Union Church of Christ with Bro. Charles Williams officiating.

Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery.

Visitation with the Morgan family will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, July 27 at Manchester Funeral Home and the body will lie in state at the church from 12:00 Noon until time of services.

Mr. Morgan passed away Wednesday morning at Horizon Health & Rehab in Manchester.

Mr. Morgan was born in South Bend, IN, the son of the late John and Modena Slatton Morgan.

He was a resident of Manchester for over 25 years, having moved to the area from Niles, MI. He was employed by the Tullahoma Housing Authority and was a member of New Union Church of Christ. He loved trains, motorcycles, four wheelers, and fast cars, enjoyed woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Morgan was also preceded in death by a grandson, Gavin Brasher.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Morgan; two daughters, Wendy Morgan of Chattanooga and Jennifer Morgan of Manchester; five brothers and sisters, Andy Morgan of Manchester, Rita Anderson of Springhill, LeAnn Duke of Cookeville, Linda Johnson of Melbourne, FL, and Paul Morgan of Murfreesboro; and three grandchildren, Bella, Trevor, and Deitric Schweitzer.

Mrs. Annie Friend  90 of Louisville, KY  passed Thursday, July 19, 2012. 

She was a member of Quinn Chapel AME Church, the Westover  Association, and a retired employee of Jefferson County Public Schools.

She is survived by daughter, Myra Friend-Ellis and a host of extended family.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Quinn Chapel AME Church  in Louisville, KY with the Funeral to follow at 7:00p.m.   Arrangements entrusted to A.D. Porter & Sons, Inc., Funeral Home in Louisville, Ky.

7/27/12 — James Eric Bean

James Eric Bean, of Estill Springs, passed this life on Tuesday, July 24th, 2012 at Life Care Center of Tullahoma at the age of 48.

Mr. Bean was born in Tullahoma to James Bean and the late Marie McClure Bean. During his life, Mr. Bean worked as a security guard for Gu

ardsmark, was a member of the Patriots Guard and a Volunteer Firefighter for the Broadview Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Bean is preceded in death by his grandparents, one niece, Chasity Marie Wiseman, and one uncle, Jackie Bean.

He is survived by one daughter, April Bean; one son, Jonathan Bean both of Tullahoma; his father, James Bean and wife Judy of Belvidere; one brother, Tony Bean and wife Felicia of Altamont; one sister, Sheila Wiseman and husband Doyle of Estill Springs; wife, Becky Bean of Tullahoma; one grandchild, James Andrew Bean; Aunt and Uncle, Janice and Frank Bean of Tullahoma; nieces and nephew, Chrystal, Misty, Michelle, and T.J.

Visitation will be held at Kilgore Funeral Home on Thursday, July 26th, 2012 from 5:00-9:00pm.

Funeral Services are Friday July 27th, 2012 at 2:00pm, in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jack Hice officiating with burial following at New Awalt Cemetery in Franklin County.

7/26/12 — Grady C. Finney

Grady C. Finney age 86 of Hillsboro, Tennessee, passed away on July 23, 2012.
 
He was a retired Security Guard at Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC); a farmer; a World War II United States Army Military Police Veteran and member of the American Legion; 32 Degree Master Mason, Scottish Rite and member of Hillsboro Masonic Lodge # 382; member of the Order of Eastern Star; was currently serving on the Coffee County Road Commission; Scout Master of Troop 332; 4-H Volunteer; and member of the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Manchester Central High School where he was a member of the football team.
 
He was an avid sports fan, especially of U.T. Football and the Atlanta Braves Baseball. Grady was also a long time supporter of A.A. where he mentorized and encouraged many who struggled and needed guidance and love in their lives. He is loved and will be missed by all.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, the late William Milledge Finney and Sarah Bulah Brixey; brothers, Clarence and Burl; and sisters, Thelma, Lois, Louise and Stella.
 
He is survived by his loving wife, Mattie Bain Finney of Hillsboro, TN; sons, Roger Finney (Vickie), Norman Finney (Charlotte), and Greg Finney (Katherine); daughter, Elaine Weaver (Ray); twin sister, Grace Allman;grandchildren, Blake Finney, Jamie  &  John Weaver, Kellie Newman, Shanda Finney, Mandy Smith, Becky Pittman, and Alison Finney; great-grandchildren, Ryan Smith, Reuben & Lars Pittman, Lexie Kate Newman, Sarah & Elliott Weaver; and a host of other relatives and friends.
 
Visitation will be on Wednesday evening, July 25, 2012 from 5:00 p.m.  until 9:00 p.m. 
 
The Masonic Service and Funeral Service will be on Thursday afternoon, July 26, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home.

7/26/12 — Maggie Elliott

Maggie Elliott age 70 of Decherd, passed away July 23, 2012 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center Skill Care.

Ms. Elliott enjoyed spending time with her family, especially around the holidays. In her spare time she loved flowers and gardening and was an avid Vols fan.

Ms. Elliott is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Elsie Harris Tate; husband, Donald Gene Elliott; son Paul Elliott; granddaughter, Shea Ledbetter; grandson, Cody McClure, and brother, Buddy Tate.

She is survived by her daughters, Denise (Stan) Carroll, Vickie Matthews, Angie (Dan) Buss, Carla Elliott; son, David (Sharon) Elliott; grandchildren Jay, Allecia, Hope, Bryan, Christian, Daniel, Molly, Maria, Elizabeth, Kaitlyn, and Patrick; great grandchildren, Daniel, Kaylie, Valorie, Alysia, and Luke; sisters Sally (Jerry) Mason, and Carol (Edward) Brown.

Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 3pm from the chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in Mt. Garner Cemetery with friends and family serving as pallbearers.
