Three Raiders Named To All District Baseball Team

With the conclusion of the Coffee County Central High School baseball season, the District 8-AAA coaches recognized 3 Red Raiders for their outstanding play this season. Named to the All-District 8-AAA team were seniors Hunter Smithson and Kyle Douglas; while senior catcher Tyler Cavender was named the District 8 Co-Offensive Player of the Year. Smithson, who played left field, had a batting average of .406 in district play and hit 6 doubles on the regular season. Douglas finished the season as the Raiders pitching ace leading the team in innings pitched while compiling a record of 6 and 2 and a team best ERA of 0.75. Cavender, the Raiders’ catcher, led the team in most offensive categories including batting average with a .385, doubles with 15 and home runs with 4. The Red Raiders finished the regular season in 3rd place in the district while finishing 4th in the District 8-AAA tournament.
