Police are investigating a homicide after a man was found shot to death inside his home and a woman was badly hurt in rural Coffee County on Tuesday morning. Deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department were called to the intersection of Pocahontas and Maple Springs Road just after 8 a.m. and found a woman who had been badly beaten. A passerby had called 911 after seeing the woman running from the home at 7951 Maple Springs Road. Authorities said she was covered in blood and screaming for help. When authorities went the home, they found her fiancé’s body, 41-year-old Thomas Anthony Colucci next to the back door. He had been shot multiple times.
The female that was injured is 36-year-old Connie King; she was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Coffee County Sheriff Steve Graves says the homicide and assault is not being investigated as home invasion or domestic issue. He says they do not have a suspect at this time and the investigation is continuing. The body of Colucci was taken to Nashville for an autopsy.
