Golfers invited to play in the Willowbrook Fore Man Scramble

Area golfers are invited to play in the second annual Fore Man Scramble golf tourney on Saturday, June 22 at the Willowbrook Golf Course.

All proceeds go to the Manchester Kiwanis Club and the Manchester Old Timers Day.

Competition will be broken down to four-man teams.

The $75 fee ($45 fee for Willowbrook members) includes green fees, golf cart, lunch and a chance to win prizes. Included is a chance to hit a hole in one on the 27th and win a new car from John Roberts.

Tournament officials are also looking for sponsorships.

Rule sheet sponsors are $10, cart sponsors are $25, half sponsors are $50 and hole sponsorship is $100.

To sign up for the tourney, call the Willowbrook Pro Shop or for more information, contact Bobby Cummings at 728-4711.

The Mary Bean Singers 25th Annual Memorial Day Singing, BBQ, & Fish Fry

Special tribute to Zora Bean for over 60 years in God’s Service.

Will be on The Church of God lawn located at 126 Garner Road in Roarks Cove near Alto, Tennessee.

Memorial Day, Monday, May 27th

Various singing groups are scheduled to perform.  Bring your instrument a join in with this special time on program.

Singing begins at 10:00 a.m. under the big tent.  Concessions begin at 11:00 a.m. with your choice of fish or BBQ, cole slaw, baked beans, fries and drink.

Homemade ice cream and desserts will be sold by the church’s youth department.  All other proceeds go to church’s building fund.

Cost: $45.00 per week for Rec Center Members only

Chapter 883 of NARFE to meet

The Guest Speaker is Coffee County Mayor, David Pennington.

Maj. Gen. Benjamin F. Cheatham Camp 72 will have their annual picnic at 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 28 at the Beech Grove Confederate Cemetery in Beech Grove.

Members are requested to bring a covered dish.  Join us for an evening of fellowship and music.

Meetings are open to the general public and all War Between the States buffs have a special invitation for the program.

Membership in the Sons of Confederate Veterans is open to all males 12 years of age and above who had an ancestor that served honorably in the Confederate Armed Forces

and can prove kinship either lineal or collaterally. Help is available to anyone interested in finding and proving kinship.

National Trails Day —- CLOUDLAND CANYON STATE PARK

National Trails Day

ON SATURDAY JUNE 1, 2013, FRIENDS OF CLOUDLAND STATE PARK WILL BE JOINING THE AMERICAN HIKING SOCIETY IN CELEBRATING NATIONAL TRAILS DAY® (NTD) BY SPONSORING A WORK AND PLAY EVENT AT CLOUDLAND CANYON STATE PARK. THE PARK IS LOCATED IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA NEAR RISING FAWN GEORGIA AT 122 CLOUDLAND PARK ROAD.

THE DAY WILL BEGIN WITH A FOUR HOUR WORK SESSION ON ONE OF THE NEWEST ADDITIONS, THE CLOUDLAND CONNECTOR TRAIL. THIS TRAIL IS BEING CONSTRUCTED IN COOPERATION WITH THE LULA LAKE LAND TRUST AND WILL BE JOINING OUR REGIONS TRAIL SYSTEM INTO PART OF THE “GREAT EASTERN TRAIL”. THE GREAT EASTERN TRAIL IS AN 1800 MILE TRAIL THAT WILL SPAN FROM ALABAMA TO NEW YORK AS A COMPLEMENT TO THE “APPALACHIAN TRAIL”.

PLEASE ARRIVE AT THE PARK BY 8:30 AM AND MEET AT THE PARK OFFICE. PARTICIPANTS DO NOT HAVE TO PAY THE PARKING FEE AND NEW PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE A T-SHIRT. TOOLS AND TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED BUT YOU CAN BRING YOUR GLOVES AND LOPPERS OR TRIMMERS.

AFTER WORK, FRIENDS OF CLOUDLAND CANYON STATE PARK WILL PROVIDE A FREE LUNCH TO SHOW OUR APPRECIATION. AFTER LUNCH, PARTICIPANTS CAN CHOOSE THEIR FAVORITE FUN EVENTS INCLUDING HIKING, BIKING AND DISC GOLF; EACH HOSTED BY AN EXPERIENCED FRIENDS OF CLOUDLAND CANYON STATE PARK VOLUNTEER.

EVERYONE IS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE AND CAN EXPECT A MEMORABLE DAY OF “GIVING BACK” TO OUR COMMUNITY AND ENJOYING YOUR FAVORITE (OR NEW) ACTIVITY. BOTH WILL PROVIDE A SENSE OF SATISFACTION THAT YOUR DAY WAS WELL SPENT!
