Haven of Hope is very excited about being the recipients of this new venture s of assistance! We have seen many creative ways youth, community, and church groups have helped over the years, but this one is new and quite exciting!
Jordan Winton, 13 year old son of Carrie and George Winton and a 7th grade student at Coffee County Middle School, is “obsessed with Christmas Lights”! Jordan spends all year planning Winton’s Light Display. He attends conventions throughout the year to get ideas for creating and programming the light show.
This year’s show has close to 2,002,000 lights and over 125 figurines. Jordan has choreographed music to his show and by tuning into 103.1 FM viewers can “watch the lights dance to music”. Jordan encourages everyone to get a better view of the show by pulling through the drive way entrance.
Jordan is using his talent to help others in his community and has chosen the Haven of Hope as the recipient of donations he is requesting of those who drive by and enjoy his show.
Jordan says, “I do this because I love to see people happy and smiling.” Jordan is very appreciative of his mom and dad’s support of his hobby.
You and your family can enjoy Jordan’s hard work by packing the whole family into the car and driving out to share in his Christmas spirit! From Manchester 55\41 intersection, head NE on Hwy 55\ McMinnville Highway for 3.8 miles; turn right on Taylor Road, travel .7 miles; 55 Haskell Winton Road will be on your right; you can’t miss it! Also, be sure and like Winton’s Christmas Lights Facebook page! The light show will on display through New Year’s!
Haven of Hope provides emergency shelter\hotline services and support to victims of domestic violence, dating violence and sexual assault in Bedford, Coffee, Franklin, Lincoln, Marshall and Moore counties in Tennessee. First Hike of the Year
Some celebrate the new year by making a toast, some by making a resolution. The best choice is to make your way to the Greeter Falls parking lot for South Cumberland’s first hike of the year! This moderate 1.8 mile hike will pass by water falls, rugged cliffs, and shady hemlocks. The trail is moderate but very rocky so be sure to wear appropriate footwear.
