BLUEGRASS COMES TO SOUTH JACKSON CIVIC CENTER
On Friday, November 15, 2013, the Rigneys will bring their award-winning talent to the stage at South Jackson Civic Center in Tullahoma, at 7:30 p.m. This show is the second event of the Performing Arts Series.
The Rigneys’ brand new CD “Double or Nothing”, just released September 10 on the Dark Shadow Recording Label, will be for sale in the lobby during the intermission and after the show for the discounted price of $10 for those in attendance at the concert.
For the audience’s pleasure, artwork by Tullahoma artist Jim House will be on display in the front reception room. Prior to the show, students of Grant Rigney will provide guitar music. Also, patrons are invited to visit the Mitchell Museum and the concession stand before the show and during intermission.
The Rigneys play a variety of original work and traditional favorites. The four band members, Andrew, Grant, Mark, and Melissa, play their chosen instruments with extraordinary skill. According to David Blood of Silver Angel Mandolins, “Andrew and Grant are virtuoso on whatever instrument they choose to play. Andrew plays guitar and mandolin. Grant plays fiddle and mandolin, and both sing lead and harmony vocals. Mark provides strong banjo work and lead and harmony vocals. Melissa keeps the band together with powerful bass backup. This family band exemplifies everything that is right about a family playing together.”
Breaking news from the family’s blog includes that Andy Rigney is featured in the Sept./Oct. issue of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine, and Grant Rigney has been selected by IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) as a member of the 2013 Bluegrass Youth All Star Band.
Tickets for the Rigneys Bluegrass Sounds show are $20 for adults and $15 for students. Call 931-455-5321 or go online to firstname.lastname@example.org to secure reservations. Tickets can now be purchased online by going to www.southjackson.org.
This show is partially funded by the Tennessee Arts Commission and many local sponsors, whose signs are prominently displayed at South Jackson.
