Cannon County officials say they first got a call about the fire about 5:30 p.m.
The fire was contained to two buildings – Always Buying Gold, and Faith and Hope Consignment – but a few neighboring buildings received smoke and water damage.
Fire investigators believe the fire began on the second floor of one of those businesses, but the cause remains under investigation.
There have been no reports of injuries.
Woodbury called for assistance from the Manchester Fire Department, which sent its new ladder truck and assisted in knocking down the fire. This was the first assignment for the new truck and it was instrumental in controlling the blaze. Summitville and Hickerson Station from Coffee County were called to the scene along with 5 other departments from outside Woodbury.
A propane tank behind one of the businesses on West Main Street exploded in the fire which caused a storage building to go up in flames as well. As far as what actually caused the blaze has yet to be determined at this point.
