The land is located on New Bushy Branch Road across the road near the first gate of Bonnaroo. In the agreement the land must be used for a county sports complex and the county must start work on the complex within one year. The entire complex will be named after Sam’s Father and Mother but each field may be named after a donor or local celebrity. McAllister has agreed to build restroom facilities and entrances to the property.
You may remember McAllister leased land for Itchycoo Park concerts in 1999 and then Bonnaroo starting in 2002. He later sold the 500 acres to the Bonnaroo promoters.
Also in the agreement the McAllister house and another 5.85 acres will remain with the family as long as Sam or his wife are alive. The county has to provide maintenance and continue to develop the site. Bonnaroo can never use the grounds. The land can not be used for agriculture. If any of these conditions are not met, the property will go back to the heirs.
Commissioners will meet in November to officially approve the deal.
