A native of Cowan, TN., he was the 17th child of 18 children born to Robert Jason (Jace) and Martha Jane Partin Tucker. He was named after the physician who delivered him. Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 58 years Mrs. Dorothy Jean Smith Tucker, two children Deborah Jean Tucker and Billy Ray Tucker, deceased siblings all born in Cowan, TN. include 8 sisters Maude Henderson, Velma Haid, Marie Crowe, Bertha Kwestorowski, Daisy Cornelious, Stella Wilkinson, Eunice Summers, Minnie Ethal, 7 brothers Lon A., Marion, Otis, Paul, Hugh Lee, Homer, and Ellis Tucker.
Mr. Tucker was a loving family man and a member of New Haven Baptist Church in Tullahoma, TN. He was a 32nd Degree Mason of 56 years and a member of the Tullahoma Lodge 262 for which he served as Past Master of the Tullahoma Lodge. In addition he had much involvement with several of the lodges in Middle Tennessee. He was also a Scottish Rite Shriner and was devoted to helping the burned and crippled children as a Shriner. Mr. Tucker was a member of the Motor Division and really enjoyed driving the mini Shriner cars in parades all over Middle Tennessee. Mr. Tucker was a United States Air Force Veteran and an employee of Wilson Sporting Goods for 42 years. He was a girls softball coach for Tullahoma Girls Softball League for several years and nicknamed “Daddy Tucker” by the girls. Being a true outdoor sportsman, he loved coon hunting, rabbit hunting, and squirrel hunting. He was a member of a Coon Hunters Club in Lynchburg and a member of The Red Bone Kennel Club in Moore County. He showed dogs in competition for The Red Bone Kennel Club for which he received many trophies, medals, and awards. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and camping with his family. What he enjoyed the most was his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandson, his church family, brothers in the Masons, and his friends. He enjoyed life and people in general. He never met a stranger and always took the time to stop and talk to people. He lived a simple life, grew up working on the farm, learned to live off the land and learned to love, being one of 18 children. His love and values have been instilled in his family, his children, and grandchildren.
He is survived by one daughter Celina Denise (William Henry) Trussell of Tullahoma, one son Grizzard Van (Lisa Ann) Tucker of Tullahoma, one brother Dewey Tucker of South Bend, IN., one sister Beulah Jean Newton of Ocoee, TN., 5 grandchildren Kenneth Dale Turner, Tiffany Trussell (Daniel Palmer) Bryant, McKenna Cathleen Tucker, Jace Ellison Tucker, and Kayda Brienna Nakole Tucker, 1 great grandson Wessley Zane Tucker, many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation with the family will be Friday, October 25, 2013 from 4 PM until 9 PM in the Chapel of Tullahoma Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Mr. Tucker will be Saturday, October 26, 2013, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Tullahoma Funeral Home, with Brother Jimmy Kesey and Brother Billy Ray Panter officiating.
Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma, TN.
