Frances “Nicky” Medley, age 96 of Hillsboro, passed away October 19, 2013 at Manchester Health Care Center.
A native of Chrisman, IL, she worked as a nanny in the Chicago area but had made Tennessee her home since 1948. She lived in many communities while in the ministry with her husband, the late Rev. Lee Warren Medley, her husband of 61 years. While working with her husband, she taught children’s Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and lead many training classes at Beersheba Springs. She served as a Cub Scout leader in Cowan and was the first woman to receive the Long Rifle Award. She later served as a Girl Scout leader. She was a member of the Decherd United Methodist Church for the last 38 years. She will be remembered as enjoying every aspect of nature, growing flowers and bird watching.
She is survived by her son, Phillip (Karen) Medley of Hillsboro; brother, Elmer Nicholson of Casa Grande, AZ.; several nieces and nephews.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Bethlehem Cemetery in Hillsboro, with friends and family members serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p. m. Monday October 21, 2013 at Watson-North Funeral Home.
