Louise Pate Miller passed away at home on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at the age of 99. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida, July 1, 1914. She was the daughter of Rolla Anthony Pate and Mary Jane O’ Hagan Pate, and the granddaughter of J.W. Pate and Martha L. Pate, and Mary and David O’ Hagan.
She was a graduate of Andrew College, Cuthbert, Georgia, in 1933 and of George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1938. She taught school in Register, Georgia, Miller, Georgia, and Red Oak, Nash County, North Carolina. In 1940 she was married to Samuel F. Miller in Nashville, NC. From 1941 until 1944 she made her home at Mt. Airy, NC while her husband was serving overseas in the Air Force during W.W. II. After many moves, she and her husband settled down in Tullahoma, TN where he was stationed at Arnold Center with ARO.
She is survived by her children; Samuel K. “Buz” Miller (Joyce) of Tullahoma, TN, Jan farmer, Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Elaine (Butler) Ramsey, Tullahoma, and Jeffrey (Joyce Ellen) Miller, Albuquerque, New Mexico. In addition she is survived by 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Miller was a member of First United Methodist Church in Tullahoma. There will be no visitation. Burial will be later at Arlington National Cemetery where Colonel Miller is buried.
