Violet D. Tarver, 87, of Manchester passed away Tuesday, August 20th at her home after a brief illness.
A native of Pineville, KY, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Denny Sr. and Rhoda Denny; she was one of ten children.
Mrs. Tarver was a homemaker and was a member of the First Methodist Church of Manchester since 1954, where she was a volunteer in the nursery for more than 20 years. As her children were growing up, she was an active member of the PTA and supported her daughters in Girl Scouts and Women’s Slow Pitch Softball.
Mrs. Tarver is survived by Phil Tarver, her husband of 66 years. She met her husband, a WWII Navy veteran, at Oak Ridge, TN when they both worked in a store photo studio. He went to work for ARO, Inc. at AEDC as a photojournalist in 1954.
She is also survived by a sister, Sevia Michael of Coco Beach, FL and a brother Andrew Denny, Jr. of Tullahoma and her three children Charlotte Ann Vetter of Waynesboro, GA, Rhonda S. Tarver of Cordova, TN and Russell Tarver of Manchester. She is also survived by two grandchildren: Elizabeth Grace Vetter of Waynesboro, GA and Shane Russell Tarver of Oldsmar, FL.
Visitation will be at the Manchester Funeral Home between 5 ~ 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 22nd.
Services will be at 2p.m. on Friday, August 23rd at the Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
