She was a retired Speech Pathologist and a graduate of the University of Tennessee – Knoxville.
She was born in Oak Hill, West Virginia to her parents, the late William H. Wender and Theresa C. Madison Wender. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Vaughan; granddaughter, Lisa Vaughan; and brothers, Bill Wender, Neil Wender and Ray Wender.
Mrs. Vaughan will be fondly remembered as one with a passion for acting and belonging to numerous little Theater Groups – the last was the Warner Robins Little Theater in Georgia. She acted in or directed over 30 plays with her last performance at age 82. In addition to her professional career and acting, she was a volunteer leadership trainer for AARP, traveling the world conducting workshops. She enjoyed reading, learning, story telling, traveling, exploring Life and World Religions. Mrs. Vaughan was a member of the Congregation Sha’arey Israel of Macon, GA.
She is survived by her son, Robert E. Vaughan, Jr. and Thelma of Rockwood, TN; daughters, Bonnie V. Miller and Bob of Manchester, TN, Dina Vaughan and Stan of Bainbridge Island, WA and Wendy Wheeler and David of Chattanooga, TN; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation with the family will on Saturday morning, June 8, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Central Funeral Home in Manchester, TN.
