Rainfall totaling 8½ inches in April raised Normandy Dam’s level near its brim and hopefully barring a drought this guarantees the area’s water supply this summer. The high water level has resulted in TVA to release additional water to prevent any threat to the dam’s structural stability. Randal Braker, Duck River Utility Commission general manager, said TVA’s goal was to have the lake reach its 875-foot summer pool level by May 1. With recent heavy rain, the lake level is one foot from the top of the dam, he added.
