Raiders Advance to District 6-AAA Tennis Championship.
With their third victory of the year over Warren County, the Raider tennis team advances to the District Team Championship. Brock Ivey-Bodman defeated Caten, 7-5 and 6-2. Lake Elam lost to Hunt 2-6 and 1-6. Matt Johnson defeated Basham 6-1 and 7-5. Kyle Johnson defeated Sauer 5-7, 6-4, and 6-2. Lucas Crismond defeated Gawel 6-2 and 6-1. The Raiders will face Cookeville on Tuesday, May 7. CCCHS Tennis Coach Rebecca Koger says, “I’m excited for our team to play for the championship”. Koger added “The players have worked very hard this year and it has been paying off late in the season”. The coach says that “Cookeville will be a tough challenge but we are definitely up for it, we have strong leadership and team unity.”
Lady Raiders Season Ends
The Lady Raiders lost to Warren County in the team tournament on Friday, May 3rd. Hollie Moore lost to Brown 4-6, 4-6. Olivia Watkins lost to Baker 1-6, 0-6. Keyonna Wilder lost to Yago 3-6, 0-6 and Karlee Reed lost to Phillips 2-6, 3-6. Coach Koger states, “This was tough year for the girls. We didn’t have a lot of experience and this was the first varsity season for several of our players. However, I think we will benefit from it next year and enter the new district with a much stronger team.” The Lady Raiders graduate only one senior girl, Olivia Watkins. They will be led in 2013-14 by this year’s #1 ranked player, Hollie Moore, and four other returning varsity players, Keyonna Wilder, Abby Ferrell, Audra Schaffer, and Kristen Shelton.
