In girls softball action Monday night Coffee County scored 6 runs in the 1st inning on 3 hits and 5 Independence errors. Independence homered in the 3rd for one run but the Lady Raiders would go onto 1 more in the bottom half of the inning on 3 more errors.
After the 3rd neither team could score as Coffee County’s Bricen Hunt and Brianna Jones combined for 16 strikeouts and allowed only 2 hits in the 7-1 win.
Coffee Co. finishes the regular season at 23-8 and will play in the District 6-AAA tournament Thursday night in Cookeville starting at 7pm.
In baseball the Raiders hosted Warren County in an important District 6-AAA game on Monday. The Raiders hit the ball very well with 15 hits in a wild 11-7 win.
Jacob Prater had a good night for Coffee County with 4 hits and 3 runs scored. Tyler Cavender had a big night with 2 hits and 3 runs knocked in.
Coffee County’s only senior Justen Cooper was the winning pitcher on Sr Night. Cooper and Prater were name the Gateway Tire and Service Center Players of the Game.
The Raiders and Pioneers will play again today to decide 2nd place in the district. Gametime is 5:30pm and you hear the game live on Thunder Radio starting at 5:20pm.
