A preliminary hearing is set to be held Friday, April 26 in Coffee County General Sessions Court for a man accused of murdering a Warren County woman and placing her body near the Summitville Cave last month.
Jimmy Bryon Jones Jr., 51, of Morrison was charged with first-degree murder for the death of 58-year-old Connie Lou Brown.
On March 9, 2013, the burnt body of Brown was found at the Summitville Cave located between Summitville Road and Fire Tower Road in an abandoned rock quarry.
An autopsy of Brown’s body revealed that she died of a gunshot wound to the chest. Her body had also been partially burned.
Investigators learned that Jones was present at the crime scene on two different occasions for several hours through an electronically monitored GPS device he wore for a prior crime.
He is a convicted sex offender who is currently on probation.
Investigators say that Jones admitted to murdering Brown, and since Jones’ arrest on April 11 he has been held in the Coffee County Jail under a $2 million bond.
