The theft was actually $148,901.22 from three accounts including Basham Industries, a Basham Industries payroll account and a Basham Farms account.
The sentencing hearing was held Thursday, April 18 in Grundy County Circuit Court. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and ordered to pay $123,901.22 in restitution. The other $25,000.00 was paid by one of Basham Industries’ insurance policies.
Green was originally indicted in July 2012 in connection with money missing from his former employer, Basham Industries, where he was working as an assistant to the owner in administration, including responsibilities for all office and bookkeeping functions, plus other training to prepare him for the ultimate reason he was hired: to carry the business forward should Basham become unable.
After his termination, a review of the books by auditors revealed that Green had embezzled funds from the company in excess of $100,000.00 actually totaling $148,901.22.-Grundy County Herald-
