One year ago, April 19, 2012, 17-year-old Chad Crabtree of Manchester passed away due to leukemia.
He was diagnosed with the disease 2 years before his death.
This past Friday (April 19, 2013) outside Westwood Middle School a digital message sign was dedicated in memory of Crabtree.
According to Jennifer Clark, the BETA Club sponsor when Crabtree was a member, the new sign was paid for by the BETA Club members when the school was a junior high. The group raised money in various ways and there were some surplus monies available from previous years.
The sign that still has a little more work to go cost approximately $10,000.
Clark said the students in the club voted to use the money for the sign. Crabtree was a Beta Club member when he attended Westwood.
