Last week ATA announced that the federal spending cuts mandated by the sequester would force the company to reduce its workforce by 207 employees. ATA Public Affairs Director Kathy Gattis confirmed on Monday that 31 of those employees will keep their jobs following a transfer of funds to AEDC from the 412th Test Wing at Edwards Air Force Base in California.
According to Jason Austin, AEDC’s director of public affairs, the money found its way to Arnold courtesy of 412th Wing Commander Brig. Gen. Michael Brewer. Before taking his current post in California, Brewer was commander at AEDC and was aware of the financial situation at the base here. After finding remaining funds from a prior fiscal year in the 412th Wing’s budget, Brewer decided to send that money to Tullahoma.
