According to Tullahoma Police Chief Paul Blackwell, on April 11 an individual under the age of 21 entered 27 businesses that have beer permits for off premises sale. Blackwell stated the individual was given $10 before entering the businesses and told to attempt to purchase an alcoholic beverage. The person was told not to use any trickery to obtain the beer and to provide a valid identification and accurate date of birth if asked.
The clerks at the following businesses, Quick Stop Mini Market on East Lincoln, UFG of Tullahoma on East Carroll Street, Winchester Lincoln Market on West Lincoln Street, Jackson Street Market on North Jackson Street, One Stop Food Market and Kroger’s on North Jackson Street sold to the underage person.
Those clerks are to appear in Tullahoma City Court on May 28 on the charges. The information about the beer sting results will be forwarded to the Tullahoma Beer Board for their review. Tullahoma Police Investigators Tyler Hatfield and Rana Pawlowski conducted the check of the businesses.
