On Friday night in Shelbyville the Coffee County Red Raiders took on the Eagles. Shelbyville picked up the slim 8-6 win. Tyler Cavender had a double and knocked in 2 runs for the Raiders and Peyton Meeker and Jacob Prater had 2 hits each with Meeker adding an RBI.
Coffee County fell to 6-17 on the year.
Coffee County sophomore pitcher Dallas Bryan was a bang bang call at first away from his win of the year on Saturday before a 2 out Franklin County rally dropped the Raiders in the non district baseball game by a final score of 6 to 4. Bryan, and the Red Raider hopeful, thought that a Trace Friedlein to Kyle Douglas to John Reece Gilmer defensive gem had secured the win, but a safe call at first allowed the tying run to score in the top of the 7th. Coffee County loaded the bases in the bottom of the 7th with one out before Franklin County’s Martin Hill came on in relief to save the day for the visiting Rebels. With the loss, Coffee County’s record fell to 6 and 18 on the year. Kyle Douglas was 2 for 3 at the plate with a walk and 2 RBI to earn the Gateway Tire and Service Center player of the game honors for the Raiders.
