A Wisconsin truck driver was treated at United Regional Medical Center after his big rig collided with another one on Interstate 24 Monday morning.
According to a report by Tennessee Highway Patrolman Donnie Clark, a truck operated by Allen Griffin of Columbus, GA, pulled from the shoulder of the interstate as another 18-wheeler approached. As the second truck swerved to get out of the way, Griffin’s truck was struck by a tractor-trailer operated by James Ryan of Wisconsin.
The front end of Ryan’s truck suffered heavy damage. Due to the crash, both lanes of the eastbound side of the interstate were closed for some time, until a trooper was able to get one lane opened to traffic.
Griffin was issued a citation for improper stopping on the interstate.
