The Duck River Utility Commission has approved its budget for the fiscal year starting July 1 — a plan that will not increase the rates the utility charges its customers for water. DRUC General Manager Randal Braker said this year’s budget process was somewhat unusual in that the board accepted the proposed spending plan at the same meeting. Ordinarily, he said, adjustments are made to the budget following input from board members, but the $2.85 million proposal was immediately adopted this time since it is a “zero-change budget. Braker credited energy audits provided by the TVA and the Tullahoma Utilities Board with identifying areas for upgrades.
