Mr. Cunningham was born in Washington, D.C., the son of the late William and Allie Hohn Cunningham.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict and was also a member of the Pi Tau Sigma Fraternity at the University of Maryland. Mr. Cunningham worked as a professional engineer in both Tennessee and New Zealand. He also worked as a mechanical engineer in Washington, D.C., Tullahoma, Wellington, New Zealand and Scottsboro, Alabama before he retired from A.E.D.C. in Tullahoma. Mr. Cunningham was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church in Tullahoma, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher in the nursery, was a choir member for 45 years, served for many years on the finance committee, SPRC, and was a lay member to the Tennessee Annual Conference. He was a member and past treasurer of the Literacy Council and was active in the Tullahoma Civic Choir. In addition to his parents,
Mr. Cunningham is preceded in death by one sister Patricia Zindler.
Mr. Cunningham is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann Cunningham of Tullahoma; one brother, James William Cunningham and his wife Emily of Tullahoma; one sister, Jane Truit of Chicago, Illinois; nieces and nephews, Beth, David, Kay, Craig, Nancy, Kenny, Catherine, and Elizabeth; and several great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 12th, 2013 from 4:00-6:00pm at First United Methodist Church.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 13th, 2013 at 2:00pm at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Beatty and Pastor Paul Purdue officiating.
Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Tullahoma.
