Coffee County General Sessions Judge Jere Ledsinger sent the murder case of a Tullahoma man to the April 9th term of the Coffee County Grand Jury. Michael Curtis is accused of murdering Kayla Qualls on Nov. 26, 2012 and leaving her body in her SUV sitting in a wooded area in Franklin County. Investigator Billy Cook testified that Qualls’ four year old son saw his grandfather strike her 4 or 5 times and then knocking her to the floor and choking her. Curtis told investigators that he then put the boy into a bedroom and locked it. Curtis stated that he struck Qualls in the head with a club and then dragged her body to his back porch and hit her in the head with a ball bat. He stated that he then placed her body in her vehicle and drove the vehicle to Spring Creek Road and left it. Curtis is being held in the Coffee County Jail under a $1 million bond.
